Description Thijs Vermeir 2007-07-21 09:29:44 UTC
Please describe the problem:
It is impossible to render the project if you just have viewed again to a clip

Steps to reproduce:
1. Import a clip in the project
2. Add this clip to the timeline
3. Double click on the clip in the sourceslist
4. clip is now playing and the "Render project" button is disabled
5. unable to start rendering or reactivating the "render project" button without readding something to the timeline

Actual results:
"render project" button is disabled

Expected results:
This button should only be disabled when there are no clips in the timeline

Does this happen every time?
yes

When you play a temporary source, the viewer switches from the timeline to that source. You need to tell the viewer to switch back to the timeline in order to preview/render. Have you tried clicking on the timeline ruler?

Perhaps this is a usability issue instead of a bug. It's not at all clear that the viewer can play from multiple independent sources. Perhaps we should have one-off sources play in their own preview windows, and use the viewer only for the timeline.
