On the table for 1.0. Do we need to do this for StarOffice and other such
applications?

This would be "nice" to fix for 1.0.1.

This bug is quite old. Will it ever be fixed? My application creates files that
have a script as stub and binary data as payload. Nautilus/gnome-vfs detects it
as a shell script but I want to override that. Currently there's no way to do
that, not even with the freedesktop.org MIME spec's magic priority tag.

This has forced me to associate my program with application/x-sh(ellscript),
which checks whether the file really is a shell script. It is a rather ugly hack.

Since we dont allow applications to edit mime types anymore I dont think this
bug make much sense in gnome-vfs at this point. It could make sense to file a
freedesktop bug with a proposal on how to allow this...
