Description Alex Kalderimis 2007-07-04 16:10:11 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I can't get m4a files to play in any gstreamer programme. Some programmes correctly index the files (banshee, exaile) while others fail to do so (rhythmbox) but none play them. The files play perfectly well in VLC mediaplayer. I have gstreamer0.8-faad, which is confirmed by gst-inspect. Ogg/mp3/wma files play fine.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install gstreamer0.8-faad and a media player with gstreamer back-end
2. try to index and play an m4a file

Actual results:
It varies from freezing the programme to skipping through the tracks to failing to notice them at all.

Expected results:
They would be correctly indexed and play.

Does this happen every time?
Yes

These days applications use gstreamer-0.10. Can you check with:
 gst-inspect-0.10 | grep faad
if yo have the element? For me those files play fine.

Please reopen if this is still an issue for you.
