Description Rebecca Schulman 2001-09-10 00:48:20 UTC
This task was once part of 1971, and is being split up.

As part of the "date modified" criterion, we use the gnome date widget
to let the user select the date they would like to search for files in reference
to.

The M/D/Y ordering for dates is not used everywhere. This task involves makig
sure that the date widget can switch the month, day and year appropriately for
the current locale, and that we are readng the date correctly in these cases.
If this is not the case, we need to either create our own date widget, or apply
appropriate patches to the gnome one, the latter obviously being preferably if
there is no hassle in it.

------- Additional Comments From darin@bentspoon.com 2000-12-21 10:51:54 ----

Fixing the standard GNOME date widget to do better is a nice idea if it is truly
broken. This bug report just contains the guess that it might be.

In either case, it's not a must-have for 1.0.

------- Additional Comments From peter@hawkins.emu.id.au 2001-02-19 21:12:50 ----

The gnome date edit widget is definately broken with respect to localisation. I
have written a patch for gnome-libs (stable and HEAD) in the past to fix this. I
posted it to gnome-hackers and it was ignored. Go figure. I don't dare commit it
to gnome-libs because of the scary "Go away and die" messages in the HACKING file.
If anyone cares, email me for the patch.

Changing to "old" target milestone for all bugs laying around with no milestone set.
Comment 2 Christian Fredrik Kalager Schaller 2002-05-12 11:25:09 UTC
Peter do you still have this patch?

Is this patch something to be included in 1.4.1?

Comment 4 Kjartan Maraas 2003-07-08 23:29:06 UTC
Should this really be moved to libgnomeui? And what happened to the
DateEdit widget rewrite that Sebastian Rittau did?
Comment 5 Murray Cumming 2003-07-28 15:32:10 UTC
Moved to libgnomeui. Added PATCH keyword.
Comment 6 Kjartan Maraas 2003-11-30 18:25:00 UTC
Is this still relevant?
Comment 7 alexander.winston 2004-01-21 02:51:52 UTC
Patch fails to
<file:///cvs/gnome/libgnomeui/libgnomeui/gnome-dateedit.c> in revision
1.76/HEAD as of 2004-01-20.
Comment 8 Luis Villa 2004-03-24 20:31:20 UTC
Marking the patch obsolete, partially to test the functionality, partially
because the patch really is obsolete.
Comment 9 Kjartan Maraas 2006-10-23 14:18:32 UTC
Marking this as obsolete.
