GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 450967
Totem opens on swf, but cannot play it
Last modified: 2007-06-28 16:54:07 UTC
The bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/121237 "Binary package hint: totem Ubuntu 7.04, german version. Doubleclicking a *.swf opens totem as player, but errmsg is displayed, that totem encountered a problem and a problemreport should be made. Here it is. The report-mechanism (Totem Hilfe > Fehler melden) that took me to this place here gathered informations about the crash, hopefully they are enclosed here automatically. The *.swf is located on a windows-share, but other files in the same directory (asf, wmv, mpg, avi) played well. Since there is no option to attach the *.swf, I will add another follow up. ... http://launchpadlibrarian.net/8138260/swf_DanceA.swf DanceA.swf, an interactive shockwavefile. (478.5 KiB, application/x-shockwave-flash) Here is the file: DanceA.swf an interactive shockwavefile. (in Windows it works well) ... Repeated the action with a local copy of the file on desktop gives errmsg: "Es ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Internet GStreamer-Fehler: Problem mit der Unterstützungsbibliothek. Bitte schicken Sie einen Fehlerbericht." ..."
Totem shouldn't be advertising application/x-shockwave-flash, since GStreamer doesn't support it. Install swfdec instead.
(In reply to comment #1) > Totem shouldn't be advertising application/x-shockwave-flash, since GStreamer > doesn't support it. Install swfdec instead. I believed there was a stand-alone swf demuxer/decoder in GStreamer, was I wrong?
Removed then, in trunk and gnome-2-18. 2007-06-28 Bastien Nocera <hadess@hadess.net> * data/mime-type-list.txt: Remove SWF files as supported, they're not (Closes: #450967)
