"the utility 'abcde - A Better CD Encoder' (among other applications, i am sure) has the ability to create a flac file with an embedded cuesheet from a cd (with limitations: http://flac.sourceforge.net/faq.html#general__no_cuesheet_tags).

could rhythmbox be enhanced or a plugin created to support this format?
