GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 441234
Dual screen config: pointer doesn't focus GDM greeter
Last modified: 2010-06-04 20:14:41 UTC
When GDM starts, the pointer is set to be at the exact center of the screen. However, with a dual screen configuration, this makes the pointer appear at the exact center of the two-screen area, there probably not pointing at a pixel located on the first screen. That way, the greeter doesn't get the focus unless one moves the mouse a bit to the left. This means that one cannot just type his login/pass, one needs to first move the mouse a bit before logging in. Other information: This happen on Ubuntu Dapper.
are you using Xinerama? if so this probably is a duplicate of bug #327530 . thanks for your report.
I'd accept a patch to fix this problem.
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. However, you are using a version that is too old and not supported anymore. GNOME developers are no longer working on that version, so unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes for the version that you use. By upgrading to a newer version of GNOME you could receive bug fixes and new functionality. You may need to upgrade your Linux distribution to obtain a newer version of GNOME. Please feel free to reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer version of GNOME.
