GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 439249
Automatically turn on overburn feature if data do not fit
Last modified: 2008-01-28 18:25:49 UTC
The bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus-cd-burner/+bug/111581 "Nautilus-cd-burner should allow automatical (with user confirmation at the best) turn on overburn feature of cdr/dvdr drive when data / image do not fit the usual media size but can fit that with overburn enabled. If user need to burn oversized data, this feature is only way to do it in nautilus-cd-burn if user shouldn't be forced to tweak gconf settings because request for manual overburn otion pin gui was rejected: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus-cd-burner/+bug/97209 ..."
Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 321007 ***
I disagree with setting this as dupe of #321007. #321007 was about manual forcing overburn (and is marked INVALID anyway). This report is a feature request to *automatically* turn on overburn when needed, so the gconf key could be obsoleted. The reason is that gnome needs to have some way to allow user burn oversized image without acting with gconf-editor. Adding manual option to GUI was rejected. So remaining way to solve it is this feature request. Another solution would be deprecating nautilus-cd-burner and replacing it with brasero as default gnome burning application.
Please undupe this bug. #321007 is NOT about *automatically* turn on overburn!
Automatically turning on overburn won't be added to the UI, you'll need to use the GConf setting to allow it.
Well, I am repeating this several times: I am not requesting turning overburn on in the UI. Really not! I am requesting to turning overburn on *automatically* when the size of image exceeds default media size limit. This is why I am requesting unduping this bug, please.
