GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 438763
Hide backup files by prepending a dot to their filename
Last modified: 2011-07-31 08:37:59 UTC
Backup files are handy things, but they get awkward when viewing files in a GTK+ FileChooser (see bug #355851) or in a terminal (e.g. via ls). I suggest the backup files prepend a dot to their filename, thus making them "traditional" hidden files as well as being separately categorized by their GConf-specified suffix. For example, .editedfile~ would be hidden by Nautilus, GTK+ FileChoosers, and terminal lists.
What's the status on this bug? It's UNCONFIRMED, is it worth working on it?
We are managing backups with gio, so if this will change it has to be there. Thanks for reporting this anyway.
This bug affects me. Where can I resubmit it so that it's fixed upstream?
