GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 438498
gparted doesnt load i810 driver
Last modified: 2008-01-30 07:37:20 UTC
Please describe the problem: my video card is an i810 chipset. it doesnt start all. Steps to reproduce: 1. start cd 2. select auto config 3. set i810 Actual results: same thing repeats Expected results: Does this happen every time? yes Other information:
Hm there is something weird in your description : either you chose auto-config at prompt, either you chose i810 at prompt . right ?
I do both but it wont enter run it.
okay, so try the third solution : run autoconfig, and at the end, run the Forcevideo script, and set it to i810. BTW, which exact version do you use ? Did you try last beta ? (http://gparted.free.fr/beta/gparted-livecd-0.3.4-7-beta-20070504-07h58.iso)
i did that and still does the same thing. When was beta released? i am using 0.3.4.6 i think.
(In reply to comment #4) > When was beta released? i am using > 0.3.4.6 i think. > Like suggested in the beta name : 2007 - 05 - 04 :)
same thing
Well, i am currently building a new beta with last drivers available in gentoo. Have a look at http://gparted.free.fr/beta/ in some days. You should find some new beta around 20070517 or 18.
Created attachment 89308 [details] Logs from system where X failed From a Compaq Presario 5000 with an 82810e DC-133 host bridge and vga controller. I selected the first boot option (autodetect) in 3.4.7.
This still happens with 3.4.7. I tried both vesa and i810 on a Compaq Presario 5000 with an 82810e DC-133 host bridge and vga controller. I will have this system for several weeks and am willing to help provide information or testing. In the logs I attached, X fails saying it cannot run in framebuffer mode. When using ForceVideo i810, X fails to start with the AddScreen/ScreenInit error. When using ForceVideo vesa, X thinks it started, but nothing appears.
Can't you try the option "with framebuffer" at boot prompt, please ?
okay, the problem seems to come from dri module : (WW) Warning, couldn't open module record (II) UnloadModule: "record" (EE) Failed to load module "record" (module does not exist, 0) (II) LoadModule: "dri" (WW) Warning, couldn't open module dri (II) UnloadModule: "dri" (EE) Failed to load module "dri" (module does not exist, 0) (II) LoadModule: "i810"
Like I mentioned on the web site (http://gparted-livecd.tuxfamily.org/news.php), the gparted-livecd is unfortunately no more supported. I worked on it alone during one year, and I have no free time anymore to continue. BTW with the new c++ dev we focus on the source code. Other good projects are running gparted. One of them is sysresccd : http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page
