GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 438189
Support Video-Podcasts
Last modified: 2008-03-11 16:15:08 UTC
Today I subscribed to a video podcast. The file was downloading for a longer time (big video), and I went out at 79%. When I came back banshee was closed. As banshee was not playing a song at this time and there was no other program running in foregrund, I came to the conclusion, that the video broke banshee :( I will try to reproduce this, but all the videofiles are huge. After starting banshee again, the file was there but I couldn't play it. So what I would like to see now is support for video enclosures in podcast. Maybe for a start it would be good enough just to fire up totem or so. (As Video-Podcasts are also a big issue with iPods, I think there would be many happy iPod users as well, after this has been implemented.)
This should be marked "enhancement". Also, can you test this in 0.13.1 or current SVN?
I believe I've heard murmurs about video being supported in banshee in some future version (maybe closer to 0.88.9) than 0.14, but it is at least in thoughts. This might be a duplicate of another bug, but I haven't found it yet.
I'm using 0.12.0 and Banshee downloads video podcasts fine...?
Mike, is there anything to be done here? Some sort of filtering of video files? Or is Banshee going to magically support video app-wide because of some Podcast Plugin magic? :)
