Description era+gnome 2007-05-10 12:29:45 UTC
Documentation
Section: Home page
http://sawmill.sourceforge.net aka http://www.unfactored.org/sawfish/ could do with some updates. The "recent news" are apparently from some previous year (I'm guessing it's not last year or the year before that, either) and the link to the source repo doesn't work.

vnix$ cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@anoncvs.gnome.org:/cvs/gnome login
Unknown host anoncvs.gnome.org.

The "browse the source tree" link is broken, too. There seems to be multiple other links to the obsolete server name cvs.gnome.org as well.

http://www.sics.se/~lofgren/sawmill/ is a 404 too.

Correct version:
I wish I knew.

Other information:
Maybe a link to the Gmane versions of the mailing lists would be useful, too.
That's http://dir.gmane.org/gmane.comp.window-managers.sawfish and http://dir.gmane.org/gmane.comp.window-managers.sawfish.announce
Comment 1 era+gnome 2007-05-11 11:19:00 UTC
Also, should the repository at :pserver:anonymous@sawmill.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/sawmill be officially deprecated? That doesn't contain the current version, does it?

According to stats at http://sourceforge.net/project/stats/detail.php?group_id=32&ugn=sawmill&type=cvs&mode=year it gets downloaded every once in a while, still. Those people probably imagine they're getting the newest version ...?

With the revival of the Sawfish project, the Sourceforge page has been updated. Would still be nice if www.unfactored.org/sawfish could be changed to a redirect, too.
Comment 3 Andrea Vettorello 2008-03-11 13:48:47 UTC
IIRC unfactored.org was the personal webpage of John Harper, so there's nothing we can do about it. As the sourceforge page now points to the Sawfish wiki IMHO this bug can be closed.
Comment 4 era+gnome 2008-03-11 15:00:44 UTC
I would have suggested that maybe he should still be persuaded to make it a redirect to current content, but it's a 404 now, which in some ways is probably even better ...
