GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 436489
Changing font smoothing effect causes gnucash crash
Last modified: 2018-06-29 21:36:08 UTC
Open gnucash. Go into windows display properties, appearance tab, click 'effects'. In the Effects dialog change the selection in the "use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts", click OK, then OK in the display properties box. All fonts change except those in gnucash. When you try to do anything in the gnucash window, it crashes.
And FYI, this was using the "MS-Windows" theme for gtk, since that's probably the culprit.
could not reproduce with 2.1.1. I'll try SVN in a bit.
odd.. It's not happening for me now, either. Of course, it appears that none of the fonts inside the window change until closing and re-opening the app. All non-gtk windows apps do this on-the-fly.
You can also test other gtk+ apps for their behavior on font smoothing changes. If you see similar problems, maybe even a crasher, e.g. with gtk-demo, then please file that as a gtk+ bug and let this one depend on it or resolve this as duplicate.
*Tried SVN. I can not get it to crash either. *I can confirm that fonts do not change, though fonts do not change in gaim either.
Any update here? You know, we need a way to reproduce the crash to fix it :-)
maybe this was a 1 time thing. I can't reproduce it anymore. Wish I could be of more help here :)
OK. Closing as INCOMPLETE then. You know what to do when it happens again :-)
