Description Sebastien Bacher 2007-04-30 09:24:07 UTC
The bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109647

"Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

The "User Settings" tool doesn't allow user to set a blank password.

Steps to reproduce:
*) System -> Administration -> User and Groups
or) gksu users-admin
*) Click on "New User" -> Leave the password fields blank -> OK

What happens: This dialog appears:
"Password is too short
User passwords must be longer than 6 characters and preferably formed by numbers, letters and special characters."

What should happen:
users-admin should let Richard Stallman create an account (at least with "Desktop user" and "Unprivileged" profiles) ;)
However, it should show a (red) message box under the text entry (maybe a web2.0-style box)

[GNOME version: 2.18.1 on Feisty]"

Not a feature we want to support IMHO. We have password-less login for that. Moreover, our internal design considers empty password as "don't change the current password", so that would not be trivial.
