GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 433579
Allow disabling of played song transmission to last.fm
Last modified: 2020-03-10 11:51:22 UTC
Hi, currently it's impossible to disable the played song transmission to last.fm. It would be nice if this could be disabled, otherwise it could make the last.fm stats different to the personal music taste for example. Bye Debian Bug: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=393280
I, personally, don't see the point in this...
Let's say I listen to a neighbours radio and for some reason he has a good musical taste except one band. I then go cooking or whatever and something by that single band is played and gets added to my listening stats. I obviously don't want it added because it doesn't mirror my musical taste. Thus I would always disable song transmission to last.fm...
I still don't see why you'd do that, rather than go to the site and delete the bad song from your stats, or stop the playback when you go away from the computer. Surely if you disable submission when you leave the computer on the offchance that a bad song is played, then it won't submit songs that you do like and got played which then leads to lastfm not mirroring your music tastes.
I would vote for not including such feature - either we submit all or nothing IMHO. You can always run back to the PC and click "Hate", and as Ian noced - you can always delete those songs at the last.fm site.
Closing all open last-exit tickets as it does not seem to be maintained anymore. See https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/Infrastructure/issues/267 for more information.
