unable to create a working browser shortcut to gnome-panel

The bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/107941 "Binary package hint: gnome-panel If I drag a link from Firefox's address bar down to the gnome-panel to create a shortcut/link to the website, it will fail, it will only create a broken launcher without icon or content. If clicked on, I only get this. FWIW, this is happening because the URL contains reserved characters (? and :)
This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
