GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 431164
Online quotes are not retrieved
Last modified: 2018-06-29 21:32:34 UTC
Please describe the problem: I run GnuCash 2.0.5, Finance:Quote 1.13. I am able to use Finance:Quote from terminal and retrieve stock quotes. I have setup one security for which I can retrieve the quote from terminal. I am not able to get quotes online. Steps to reproduce: 1. From GnuCash, Price Editor, select a security, press "Get Quotes" 2. From command line, run "$gnucash --add-price-quotes <file>" 3. Actual results: I get the message "There was a system error while retrieving the price quotes" Expected results: Does this happen every time? yes Other information:
You didn't say what operating system you used, or how you installed gnucash. You also didn't say what security you were trying to retrieve. (Sometimes it makes a difference.)
OS: OpenSUSE 10.2 kernel 2.6.18.8 GnuCash has been installed from source code (make install) with no options. Securities: CPR.MI, MTE.PA, G.MI (Europe)
I have found the problem. My system ws lacking DateManip perl module. I don't believe this is mentioned anywhere. Perhaps some improvement of the documentation could help. Thanks anyhow.
That's odd because gnucash checks for the existence of that module. The "Get Quotes" button should have been disabled. Anyway, glad you found the problem.
