GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 427592
ctrl+f for search bar
Last modified: 2011-11-05 12:44:16 UTC
The bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/104170 "Binary package hint: rhythmbox Lots of gnome apps use the ctrl+f shortcut to perform a search. Rhythmbox has a search bar, but pressing ctrl+f does not highlight it, which: -goes against consistency. -makes browsing your collection without a mouse harder. So please, enable that shortcut. Thanks!"
Any thoughts on this suggestion? Thanks in advance.
I would really like to see this suggestion implemented if it grabbed the focus and highlighted all the text in the search box (if any text already there). If Ctrl-f or even a menu entry so that a key combo could be assigned to it, would be extremely helpful.
Created attachment 200043 [details] [review] Patch make "Control-F" work in Rhythmbox to focus the search box From here, created in 2009: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/104170/comments/3
I didn't realize that attaching a file was going to submit a comment and email everyone. I wanted to add: I agree this a worthwhile usability issue, a version of the patch created to address the issue in 2009 can still be accepted and applied.
Comment on attachment 200043 [details] [review] Patch make "Control-F" work in Rhythmbox to focus the search box I'm 90% of the way through completely rearranging how searching works. This patch won't work with the new scheme.
fixed in commit 0857631
