Description brian gryder 2007-04-07 05:38:48 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Since upgrading to libphoto2-2 and libphoto-port0 version 2.3.0, My ubuntu 6.10 installation will not download pictures from my Kodak EasyShare CX7330 digital camera. I receive this error message:

An error occurred in the io-library ('Could not claim the USB device'): Could not claim interface 0 (Operation not permitted). Make sure no other program or kernel module (such as sdc2xx, stv680, spca50x) is using the device and you have read/write access to the device.

When i downgrade the libphoto2-2 and libphoto-port0 versions to 2.2.1 everything works again.

Specs:
ubuntu 6.10
kernel 2.6.17-11-generic
gnome version 2.16.1
Kodak EasyShare CX7330 digital camera

Steps to reproduce:
1. Attach a Kodak EasyShare CX7330 digital camera to a PC via USB cable
2. Power on the camera
3. Click import

Actual results:
The Error message appears. import never happens,

Expected results:
A form showing thumbnails and saving options show appear.

Does this happen every time?
yes. until the libphoto2-2 and libphoto-port0 version 2.3.0, packages are downgraded

Other information:
This error also occurs in KDE with DigiKam.

This is either a permissions problem (does it work as root?) or a libgphoto problem. If it is a libgphoto problem please report it to the libgphoto developers at http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=8874&atid=108874.

This isn't a gthumb bug (or a blocker bug).
