Description Erik Volkman 2007-03-26 03:15:10 UTC
Steps to recreate:
1. Right click on desktop and select Create Folder
2. Name folder .<anything>
3. Right click -> Delete
4. Icon remains as unknown/unlinked file

1. Repeat steps 1 and 2 from above
2. With new folder selected hit "delete" key
3. Folder gets moved to .Trash, but remains visible on desktop and interactable
4. Create second folder with same name as previous (now two folders on the Desktop with the same name, although they actually reside in different places in the filesystem)
5. When this second folder is deleted, follows same behaviour as the first, except renamed as .<name> copy (since original was in the .Trash first)

Right click -> Move to trash follows same behaviour as "delete" key

When trash is emptied, the folders deleted in the second set remain on the desktop but give file not found error messages when you interact with them. They retain the folder icon.

Relogging will remove these icons from the desktop, but they should go away as soon as they are moved (to .Trash) or removed from the file system.

Note: I have my desktop set to my home directory, no other hidden files are shown, don't think it makes a difference, but might.

I'm still able to repeat this with Nautilus 2.22.5.1.

I cant no reproduce.
This bug was reported against a version which is not supported any more. Developers are no longer working on this version so there will not be any bug fixes for it.
Can you please check again if the issue you reported here still happens in a recent version of GNOME and update this report by adding a comment and adjusting the 'Version' field?

Again thank you for reporting this and sorry that it could not be fixed for the version you originally used here.

Without feedback this report will be closed as INCOMPLETE after 6 weeks.
