Description Rebecca Schulman 2001-09-10 00:36:30 UTC
(feel free to fix the bug's phrasing..it seems very awkward to me)

The task here is the following:
When displaying search results, we currently sort the results based on the first
search criterion the user selected.

In order to refine this feature, it would be nice to base not only the field we
sort on, but also the order the results are sorted in on this criterion

The two fields that this would affect would be
1. size -- for searches for files "larger than" X, we should show the largest
files first, and for searches for files "smaller than" X, we should show the
smallest ones first

2. date modified -- for searches for files "older than" X, we should show the
oldest first, and for searches for files "newer than X", we should show the
newest ones first

I talked to rebecka about this before encouraging her to submit the bug report.
I agree that the proposed change is a noticeable improvement. I wanted to wait
until we have some experience with the sort-by-search-criterion feature before
considering working on this refinement, since at least Bud thought that the
feature itself might be a bad idea, and I didn't want to do throwaway work to
address this improvement. I think this bug should be put in "usable", as a small
tweak we might want to make based on real experience with the UI. I'm changing
its milestone to <no milestone> so Darin will see it again and have a chance to
agree or argue with me.
