GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 415072
Outdated translations sent to http://www.iro.umontreal.ca
Last modified: 2007-03-08 21:21:30 UTC
GStreamer translation should managed through Translation Project (http://www.iro.umontreal.ca). Unfortunately it seem that nobody cares to send needed stuff before releases. So the currently status is TP CVS gstreamer 0.10.4 --> 0.10.11.2 gst-plugins-base 0.10.5 --> 0.10.11.3 gst-plugins-good 0.10.2 --> 0.10.5 gst-plugins-ugly 0.9.6 --> 0.10.5.1 gst-plugins-bad <none> --> 0.10.4.1 Could you please send new translations to TP (freezing strings) and release new versions after a week or two?
I already emailed the current core and base pre-releases as I made them, but it's the first time I'd ever written to the translation project. Apparently we all thought someone else was emailing them, but I'm taking care of it now for the existing releases. That said, the status page still doesn't show the new version numbers for core and base pre-releases 4 days after I emailed translation@iro.umontreal.ca, and I've had no emails from them.
Just to be sure, since at the end of that e-mail address there's apparently a bot: did the subject contain both the download URI and the string "gstreamer-0.10.X.pot" / "gst-plugins-base-0.10.X.pot"? (see http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/translation/HTML/maintainers.html) Also, I wonder if the bot can handle version numbers in the format a.b.c.d - reading the above page I'm not so sure about that.
No, the subject contained "gstreamer-0.10.X.y.pot", with the URL in the body of the message. The instructions say the .pot has to be in the subject, but don't specify that the URL should be. Just in case, I've just sent emails about the final releases with the URLs in the subject lines along with the .pot info. I asked Thomas about the a.b.c.d version numbers, and he claimed that he thinks he discussed it with them and it would be fine.
The TP seems fine now. The messages from TP robot announcing new translations were sent to local TP mailing list. Versions are: gstreamer 0.10.12 gst-base 0.10.12 gst-good 0.10.4 gst-ugly 0.10.5 gst-bad 0.10.5
