Description Werner Meyer 2007-02-28 10:45:08 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Win key opens "Computer" (main menu) instead of choosen actions (e.g. third level switch)

Steps to reproduce:
1. (Hardware) - Keyboard - (Belegungseinstellungen) - Third level choosers
- Press right Win key to choose 3rd level
or
xmodmap keycode 116 = "ISO3LEVELSWITCH" (of course in the right syntax)
2. press right win key
3.

Actual results:

Expected results:

Does this happen every time?
yes

Other information:
gnome2.16.1 (opensuse10.2)

control-center:

(Hardware) - Keyboard - (Belegungseinstellungen) - Alt/Win key behavior
- default
- Add the standard behavior to Menu key
- ...
- ...

I think, it's here, where there should be a checkbox "do nothing else, than configured by xmodmap".

[also if I put in
(Hardware) - Keyboard - (Belegungseinstellungen) - Third level choosers
- Press right Win key to choose 3rd level
the right Win key still works as Main-Menu("Computer")-Starter]

(Alt/Win key behavior and Third level choosers could conflict?)

[btw.
Also via
control-center:
(Persönlich) - Shortcuts
there is not said "open Main Menu by pressing right Win key".]

Could this be a SUSE thing? I cannot reproduce this at all. GNOME doesn't even use the main-menu (yet).
Comment 3 Werner Meyer 2007-03-01 12:33:56 UTC
Interisting - I use only (open)suse - so this could be possible. (even I don't know HOW)
Comment 4 Jens Granseuer 2007-03-01 18:09:58 UTC
Maybe you could try to answer this question on the openSuse bug tracker or forums?
Comment 6 Jens Granseuer 2007-03-06 17:32:02 UTC
Thanks. This shows that it's indeed a SUSE thing, though you should be able to disable the behaviour using that metacity gconf key.

I'll close this as NOTGNOME. Werner, you might want to add your spin of things to bug 150897. FWIW, I consider that approach fairly broken...
