Description Paolo Benvenuto 2007-02-22 17:51:37 UTC
(Debian unstable)

gnucash 2.0.2. has troubles with the "j" letter:

- gnucash --nofile
- file -> New -> New Account Page
- create accounts a and b with default settings
- open account a register
- enter a txn: the "j" small letter is not accepted

Besides this simple reproducible situation, with my data file (48 MB!, maaaaany accounts and maaaaany txns) it sometimes happens that with autocompletion it doesn't accept the j, and in that case the txn cannot be saved anymore: if you hit arrow-up the txn is lost.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
This bug report isn't very useful because it doesn't describe the bug well. If you have time and can still reproduce the bug, please read http://bugzilla.gnome.org/bug-HOWTO.html and add a more useful description to this bug.

I can't reproduce.

Is the bug *only* with the letter 'j'? Does 'q' not exhibit the problem?

Can you be more precise about "enter a txn: the 'j' small letter is not accepted"? What do you mean by "enter a txn"? How? Using the keyboard or mouse? Entering into which field? What do you do then?

What do you mean by "not accepted"? What happens? Is there any console output?

Adjusting prio/sev.

And: What is your locale?
Comment 4 Paolo Benvenuto 2007-02-24 01:39:34 UTC
Let's put it in a better form. Reproduce it this way:

$  export LC_ALL=C; gnucash --nofile # i.e. locale=C
- file -> New -> New Account Page
- create accounts a and b with default settings
- open account a register
- enter a txn: the description doesn't accept the "j" small letter if I type it with the keyboard.

I.e. you can type whatever you want in the description, but if you type "j" it isn't accepted. From that moment onward if you complete the txn, v.g. you put "b" as 2nd account and some value in the deposit or withdrawal field, the txn cannot be saved: <enter> doesnt' save the txn; nothing happens if you hit the down arrow. The only thing you can see is deleting the txn; in this case the register doesn't permit you enter any more txn, you have to close the register of a and open it again.

The bug appears only with the j letter, any other letter doesn't matter for the bug.

gnucash: [M] "Found Finance::Quote version ""1.12"

is the only message I get in the console
Comment 6 Paolo Benvenuto 2007-02-24 02:21:11 UTC
The bug is inexistent, it was due to a "j" accelerator in .gnucash/accelerator-map
