What were you doing when the application crashed?
When receiving, the program can usualy only download one email at a time, then will give an error message like "Cannot get message MSG1172045609.6: Unknown reason"

Distribution: Ubuntu 6.10 (edgy)
Gnome Release: 2.16.1 2006-10-02 (Ubuntu)
BugBuddy Version: 2.16.0

hmm... "unknown reason" means that your email server does not give an error code back, why this is happening. perhaps the email server rewrites the message id's everytime, so evolution cannot use cached information?
(i can only guess here - what kind of email server is this about?)
