GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 399578
Add the option to create a subfolder from context menu
Last modified: 2012-08-28 18:04:36 UTC
When browsing a folder (i.e. browse view), and I see a folder there and want to create a subfolder inside it, I have to open a new window (for that folder) in order to create a subfolder there. It would be great if the context menu for that folder had 'Create subfolder'. The whole reason I'm using the browse view is so that there aren't loads of windows on the screen to confuse me.
The same applies to the spatial list view. Example: I open my Home Folder in spatial+list view. Then I expand the Documents folder (still in the same windows), and see my Work folder. I want to create another folder inside the Work one. Today, I must open the Work folder in a new window in order to create a folder inside it. Ideally, I should be able to right-click it in the Home Folder window to create the folder inside Work. To avoid confusion, the menu entry could be: "Create Folder Inside %s" or something like that. This menu entry could be listed both in the context menu, and in the File menu.

Would be nice, confirming.
I don't think this is something we want to have. We already have too many "New..." items in the context menus. Also I think it is weird to create a folder somewhere that you can't see. Since you'll be giving it a name "Untitled Folder" or similar.
