GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 398134
wrong command in nettool help
Last modified: 2007-01-18 20:39:32 UTC
Documentation Section: GNOME Nettool Manual V2.7->Getting started You can start GNOME Nettool in the following ways: Applications menu Choose Accessories → Text Editor. Command line Execute the following command: gedit Correct version: You can start GNOME Nettool in the following ways: In OpenSUSE 10.2: Computer->More Applications->Internet → Network Tools. Command line: Execute the following command: gnome-nettool Other information: I am using OpenSUSE 10.2, so the menu thing is not very clear. (I had to use the search tool from the "start menu".) It's easier to find configuration tools by command-line sometimes (if the helpfile is correct). ^^
The documentation is correct for stock Gnome. I'm afraid that this is a weakness of the gnu/linux distro model -- the Gnome documentation describes stock Gnome, not the way distros customize Gnome to suit their needs. It's up to your distro to make changes to the documentation if they also make changes to the user interface. Closing as NOTGNOME, but thanks for taking the time to report this :)
