GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 395573
Printing multiple pages per sheet not work
Last modified: 2007-07-29 14:26:34 UTC
1. Open supported file (ie PDF) 2. File->Print 3. Select "Print to file" option - in Page Setup tab, Pages per sheet option offers just "1" page (but a lot of people want print multiple pages per sheet) (on Ubuntu) - I have tested it on another PC (Gentoo) and it offers 1, 2 or 4 pages, but only 1 page per sheet is printed whatever you set-up
Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 318916 ***
Ups, my bad, it's not a dup
I have the same problem here. Ubuntu edgy (6.10) evince 0.6.1 Printer is an HP DeskJet 5440 It works with Acrobat Reader, though.
This bug can't be fixed right now because of a bug in gtk+ printing dialog. We'll fix it as soon as such a gtk+ bug is fixed.

Bug 402024 is NOT a duplicate, AFAICT. The OP writes: Pages per sheet option offers just "1" page However my experienced (bug 402024) was that I *was* offered the opportunity to print multiple pages per page, but it didn't *work*. JP
Hmm. reading that again, I think I'm wrong. The OP had the problem I am seeing on Ubuntu 6.10 but on Gentoo. So it's a Gnome/GTK problem rather that an distro problem. Ok.

It should be fixed in svn trunk. It will only work for PDF documents if poppler was compiled with cairo backend. It also requires gtk+ >= 2.11.1 because of bug #398414.
