GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 392760
creates partitions in wrong order
Last modified: 2007-01-07 15:14:38 UTC
if you fill up your free space from behind, the partitions are also created that way, meaning that the last partition might become hda5.(in extended) If you now fix the partition order with fidisk(a windows install does it seems to do it as well), linux does not recognise them any more(not mountable) - they are still visble in fdisk though. test setup: (partitons in physical order) hda1: primary hda4: extended hda6: logical hda5: logical
well, my first response would be to create them in the order you want ;) But you are right, it would be nice to be able to change the numbers afterwards. We have some more requests for this, but especially in case of logical partitions this isn't as easy as it seems. I'll try to find the relevant bugs and post them here
ok, i'm duping this one. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 327261 ***
