"I was listening to a CD ; I used Nautilus to eject the CD but did
not stop sound-juicer prior to doing that ; as a result

I can't reproduce this behaviour neither on ubuntu edgy with SJ 2.16.1, nor on Slackware 11.0 with SJ 2.14.5. As soon as I eject the cd, SJ stops playing. Nevertheless I made a patch which should fix your problem. Richard or Andrea, can you test it, please?
