GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 377517
Notification of All Channel Talk on Selected Channels
Last modified: 2019-02-23 02:52:13 UTC
I would like to be able to mark certain channels to notify me on ANY chat. paticularly I'd like the notify to be in the form of the window blinking on my Window List (I think that's the urgent hint that does that) in addition to the notification popup with the text. I assume this might be configurable, so that you can choose which or both to have happen. Thanks, Will
This RFE was already proposed before but was rejected. I'm not against it but we should find a way to make this easily configurable while keeping a clean and easy user interface. If you have idea, it's welcome. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 331571 ***
It might be nice to keep this open in case someone wants to try to write a quick plugin -- all he wants is the urgency hint, which should take about 3 minutes to do. I'm not planning to include it in the main distribution though.
Created attachment 88291 [details] Example of Suggested Enable/Disable of Notify on Activity

You could also add an option in the notification plugin preferences to enable the ability for the checkmark if you wanted to disable it by default. Thanks, Will
I've recently done a re-attempt at this task. However I was unable to find any documentation on Plugin Development. If one of you can hit me up on Freenode (Kassah), I'd love to figure this out. Thanks, Will
Hi, you might like to look at notification plugin, and at "highlight" option under "IRC preferences" .
xchat-gnome is not under active development anymore. Its codebase has been archived: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/xchat-gnome/commits/master Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather reactivate the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is deprecated) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again. You may want to switch to Hexchat (or another IRC client that suits you).
