GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 376669
Show better error message
Last modified: 2008-12-30 16:17:39 UTC
Evince 0.5.1 The file at: http://www.ville-yzeure.com/renvois%20docs/pdf/Yzeuremag95.pdf can't be opened. I get the error: Error: Document has not the mandatory ending %EOF on the command-line. But there are 2 problems: - The error message when opening this file is rubbish: Failed to load document (error 3) 'file:///home/hadess/Desktop/Downloads/Yzeuremag95.pdf' - The file can't be opened. It most likely is possible to open it with Acroread.
It's a poppler bug, please report it to the poppler component on bugzilla.freedesktop.org.
I opened https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9075 for the poppler problem. Reopening for the crappy error message.

We should probably fix this in poppler-glib too. I'll look at it.
The original reproducer isn't there anymore. I've asked the webmaster for it.

I've just fixed the poppler side in order to provide better error messages when document fails to load. I'll fix evince as soon as poppler 0.8 is released.
This bug was already fixed.
