Description Cees Timmerman 2006-11-10 13:29:03 UTC
It would be useful to have advanced search features like matching case, escaped newlines, and regular expressions. Maybe an existing commandline tool can be shelled and parsed to save time and code duplication.
Comment 1 Emmanuele Bassi (:ebassi) 2006-11-10 13:46:34 UTC
GLib should get, in the current developement cycle, support for perl compatible regular expressions (PCRE); this should make this feature possible without having to use an external tool.
Comment 2 Dennis Cranston 2006-11-11 03:03:35 UTC
For filename searches these features already exist, just select the "Name matches regular expression" search option. Is that what you are asking for? Thanks.
Comment 3 Cees Timmerman 2006-11-13 11:49:27 UTC
No. I mean regexing file contents.

It looks like Cees beat me to the punch. See the duplicate bug 456126 for an extended description.
Comment 6 Kevin Cassidy 2007-07-12 04:41:40 UTC
My mistake... you're looking to match based on file contents.
Comment 7 André Klapper 2019-02-23 02:44:19 UTC
gnome-search-tool is not under active development anymore.
Its codebase has been archived:

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather reactivate the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is deprecated) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
