GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 370951
Gnome Keyring don't save SMB share password
Last modified: 2011-03-09 16:08:59 UTC
Please describe the problem: when we type a password to acces at an smb share, and we check Save the password in the keyring, it is never save, we have to type it each time we need it. Steps to reproduce: 1. type an smb url in nautilus (like : smb://xionox@serveur) or add a new network server 2. When the dialog box ask for a password type it and chez save the password in the keyring 3. close the windows (or quit the session) et retry to acces it. Actual results: Nautilus ask every time the password Expected results: that nautilus connect to the share without password Does this happen every time? yep Other information: gnome rox :)
Additional information: ----------------------- This same bug has been recorded in the Ubuntu bug list. It applies to Ubuntu 6.10 "Edgy Eft" which includes Gnome 2.16.1. Bug# 67189 https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/67189
I echo this problem on my Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy box.
Is there any quick workaround please?
I just saw this on a default install of edgy. Will look into it.
likely to be a gnome-vfs smb method rather than a gnome-keyring one
According to post in another forum ( http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=294330 ), if you upgraded from Dapper, there is a workaround: copying over using the older version's default.keyring seems to solve this problem. I have a new install of Edgy, so this is no help to me, but hope this info will help speed up the fix... :) If someone knows how to get the default.keyring generated using the old way, pls post it here.
gnome-vfs is no longer developed.
