GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 370738
cut out Guadec content into an own wiki
Last modified: 2007-02-18 22:03:35 UTC
I believe having only one wiki live.gnome.org makes things more complicated. Guadec is a lot of stuff and also has very different uses. I suggest that we build a wiki wiki.guadec.org . But before we should configure live.gnome.org based on a farmconfig. Then the settings wiki.guadec.org can just be a copy of live.gnome.org. We then use the same user basis with the config "user_dir". This means noone would have to create a new account and logins are transfered. But we have two different name spaces where we can link via InterWiki (from live.gnome.org GUADEC:PageName and from GUADEC maybe LGO:PageName to live.gnome.org) This gives us more flexibility and generally we can split more wikis if it makes sense.
I recommend you to start asking the Birmingham2007 about their web plans. Thomas Wood is coordinating the organization of next GUADEC. I know you dislike mailing lists :) but all I can do is to suggest you to discuss this and the maintenance of gudec.org at http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/guadec-list , where Thomas is looking for Drupal volunteers to update the site.
I do not see the need for another wiki. I do not want flexibility, I want easy maintenance. Feel free to reopen, but please add arguments what the benefit is (vs extra maintenance).
