Description James Allsopp 2006-10-25 11:53:35 UTC
The new screen saver isn't a patch on xscreensaver and there should be a simple option to turn it off. See this;
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-507366-highlight-gnome+screensaver.html

I don't understand the need for this effort, surely it could be redirected somewhere productive, especially if there is a higher quality existing solution.

Very annoyed that I've had to waste time to remove something I and others didn't want.

Thanks for your support. You should probably raise this issue in the gentoo bug tracker if you wish to pursue it. Please feel free to report any further bugs you find.

After a couple of months of upgrading, the general consensus is that this piece of Gnome is not very good. Is there any chance of having a simple button or choice of which screensaver system we can use? I'm sorry you don't appreciate this, but this is annoying and it's not a gentoo problem, this has been forced on us by Gnome.
