In the same way that glib ships a glib-2.0.m4 file with a AM_PATH_GLIB_2_0 macro that is convient for application developers to use glibmm should consider shipping a glibmm-2.0.m4 file with a AM_PATH_GLIBMM_2_0 macro.

How is this better than the recommended PKG_CHECK_MODULES? AM_PATH_GLIB_2_0 is not generally used, as far as I know.
