Please describe the problem:
When set a sound for sucefully logins, before login, applications that use ALSA
to play sounds, freeze

Steps to reproduce:
1. Run configuration tool: "Desktop -> Administration -> Login Screen" (Fedora Core 5)
2. Switch to Accesibility Tab and set any sound for Login Sucefully
3. Close Session and Open again. Then, open XMMS set up to use ALSA as sound
system (or whatever you want that use ALSA) and try to play a sound

Applications that use ALSA, Freeze

Expected results:
Applications that use ALSA works

Does this happen every time?
Yes, always

This sounds a lot like bug #333433.
Comment 2 Brian Cameron 2007-02-09 06:52:11 UTC
Marking this as Major not as a Blocker since only one user has complained about this problem. I also don't think this is a GDM bug, but a problem with the way the system is managing the sound device.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
However, you are using a version that is too old and not supported anymore. GNOME developers are no longer working on that version, so unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes for the version that you use.

By upgrading to a newer version of GNOME you could receive bug fixes and new functionality. You may need to upgrade your Linux distribution to obtain a newer version of GNOME.
Please feel free to reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer version of GNOME.
