Description Satoshi Tanabe 2006-09-27 04:30:57 UTC
I want Gedit to use Ctrl + Page Up/Page Dn, instead of Ctrl + Alt + PageUp/PageDown, to switch to the next tab like Firefox. A lot of people use Firefox, so I think it is beneficial for many people to use the same shortcut with less keys to press. I don't see any reason not to do so (Maybe there is a good reason... In that case, please teach me why).

here is the cut&paste from the FAQ draft I have sitting on my harddisk... I should finish it off and publish it :)

Q: Why not to use Ctrl+PgUp/PgDown to switch among tabs?
   It's what gnome-terminal/epiphany/firefox do... What about Ctrl+Tab?

A:
Ctrl+Tab is used to move the focus and it's fundamental for
accessibility, so it isn't available.
Ctrl+PgUp/PgDown is used by GtkTextView (the text display widget of
gtk+ which gedit uses) to move to the start/end of the current
paragraph. Use Ctrl+Alt+PgUp/PgDown to switch tabs.
Also note that this whole behavior is implemented by default by
GtkNotebook so go bug someone else ;)
