Description tom 2006-09-21 20:14:13 UTC
Incorrect translation
Application: gnome-power-manager

Incorrect text:
The translations for the two suspend states (suspend-to-ram & suspend-to-disk) are not unique and very confusing. For example, in the right-click-menu of the applet it is: "suspend-to-ram -> Ruhemodus" - "suspend-to-disk -> Tiefschlafmodus". But in the configuration for AC/battery, it is: suspend-to-ram -> Stromsparmodus" - "suspend-to-disk -> Ruhemodus". This is VERY confusing, especially "Ruhemodus" first refers to "suspend-to-ram" and then suddenly refers to "suspend-to-disk". It couldn't be any more confusing actually. To make it worse, when you hit "System - Shut down" it says "suspend-to-ram -> Bereitschaft" and "suspend-to-disk -> Ruhezustand".

Should be:
Find a unique translation for "suspend-to-ram" and "suspend-to-disk" which should be used everywhere in the Gnome desktop.

This is fixed since Gnome 2.16 where we use "Ruhezustand" for hibernate/suspend and "Bereitschaft" for standby.
Comment 2 tom 2006-10-15 18:07:12 UTC
Well this is funny because I have Gnome 2.16 (2.16.1 actually) installed here and that's where I found these confusing names. The right-click menu of gnome-power-manager-2.16.1 says "Ruhemodus" and "Tiefschlafmodus" whereas in the settings dialog it says "Ruhemodus" and "Stromsparmodus" while the logout screen of Gnome says "Bereitschaft" and "Ruhezustand". I honestly don't know which is which without trying it out first.

Sorry for any confusion, I try to have a look at this as soon as possible.
Comment 4 Hendrik Richter 2007-03-27 09:31:42 UTC
The Power Manager and the logout screen now both use the following translations:

Suspend => Bereitschaft
Hibernate => Ruhezustand

This problem has been fixed in our software repository. The fix will go into the next software release (GNOME 2.18.1). Thank you for your bug report.
