Description Sebastien Bacher 2006-09-20 11:11:18 UTC
That bug has been opened on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/60123

"Since the last versions, the monthly calendar at the right of the calendar part of Evolution is replaced by a task list and a note list, which is less ergonomic.
...
Yes it's the same issue than bug #58857, but is there any way to move the calendar to the right side, at the place of memo and tasks widgets that are not useful for me here ?
...
I can't see completely it without it recovers a good part of my calendars list, and there are the buttons under.
...
> How many calendars do you use and what screen resolution?
...
two at 1024x768.

> Right, your sidebar is configured in a way which make the categories button are stacked and it takes some place. That bug is slightly confusing now, how would you retitle it? Do you want to have the option to move it to the right? Have it by default on the right?
...
Yes, it would be a good idea to be allowed to choose its location."

Adding srini to CC list.
Comment 2 André Klapper 2006-09-25 13:22:01 UTC
well, minimize the right pane and make the left pane wider, i'd say. very easy workaround.
Comment 3 Milan Crha 2008-04-18 14:31:19 UTC
Is this still required? It doesn't seem to be for many people, though.
Comment 4 Sebastien Bacher 2008-04-18 14:43:54 UTC
there has not been other request for this change on the ubuntu bug tracker, that's only a feature request and it still applies but it's up to you to decide or not if you want this option or decide it's worth complicating the code
Comment 5 Milan Crha 2008-04-18 15:14:13 UTC
Rather than the code the user interface. If he doesn't like/use right panel, then that's no help for him at all. It will still waste the place for events.
Andre's suggestion sounds reasonable and totally working. I would not call it workaround, it's just a way how to let it work to satisfy reporter's needs.
Comment 6 Sebastien Bacher 2008-04-18 16:39:17 UTC
the suggestion would be alright if the pane setting was specific to the calendar mode but it's not, when you switch to the emails component you might want extra space to have a good overview of the messages list for example
Comment 7 Matthew Barnes 2012-09-18 23:27:09 UTC
No intention to implement this. Closing.
