Description Dotan Cohen 2006-09-18 10:18:24 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When viewing multiple tags in Fspot, the program displays a bar that has an icon for each tag. When I click on the tag People, it fills up with the 70 different tags under People. This makes the icon bar very long, so long that the Fspot goes off the screen to the right.

In my particular case, with F-spot on a Hebrew locale, I cannot access the File, Edit, etc. menus, nor the the tag dialog. This is because they are on the right of the window (which is off the screen). English and other Left-To-Right locales, that have these items on the left, would still be useable.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Add lots of tags (40+) under People
2. Put an X in the People tag, to display all people.
3. Gape in awe.

Actual results:
The F-spot window becomes too large for the screen, falling off the right of the screen.

Expected results:
I would expect for the icons to start a new row rather than continuing to the right.

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Shows F-spot falling off the right end of the screen.

My KDE Task Bar is on the right side of the screen. Don't let it confuse you. It's about 20 pixels wide.

It is the search bar that gets filled up with the tags that are active in the search.
Comment 3 Dotan Cohen 2006-09-18 19:43:26 UTC
I did not realise that it is called the search bar.

Note that the search bar has a Red X button, that seems as if it would make it (the search bar) disappear. When the button is pressed, the whole search is reset. Not the expected behaviour.

Dotan: Could you test Gabriels query branch patch (bug #139796), and see if your problem exists there as well?

They plan to incorporate this query patch within the next few weeks.

Comment 5 Dotan Cohen 2006-09-20 20:45:14 UTC
Bengt, I see several patches there, none written by Gabriel. I do see that he has a seperate CVS for his patched F-spot, though. Would you prefer that I build on that CVS, or that I patch with one of the patches on that page?

Note that I'll be gone until Monday, so I'll do it then.
Comment 6 Thomas Van Machelen 2006-09-21 08:28:17 UTC
Yes the F_SPOT_QUERY branch is where you can find the latest version of that "patch".

changed title.

was "Too many icons makes F-spot too wide for screen"
now "Too many tags makes F-spot too wide for screen"

This problem should be fixed now that the new search functionality has landed.
