Description Vassilis Pandis 2006-09-08 01:13:00 UTC
Hello. This is a bug originally reported by an Ubuntu user. You can find the original bug report at http://launchpad.net/bugs/19548 :

When a CD is mounted, the disk-mounter applet offers to let you eject the CD but
not to simply unmount it.

While I can appreciate that offering the option to a less experienced user,
having an option to enable it would be very handy because at times I get annoyed
with having to open a terminal to pumount the cdrom drive.

Having read the Launchpad bug. I thought most modern CD access programs (ie. ones that access the CD digitally) could play/rip the CD while it was mounted.

I will need to test this with an orange book CD.

grip 3.3.0 and cdda2wav 2.01.01a10 are able to rip the audio off a mounted cd that contains both audio and data.

A duplicate bug was just fixed.
