GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 354808
no item selected after delete of single item in mail list in threaded mode
Last modified: 2006-10-14 23:34:53 UTC
To recreate this problem: Select a folder of messages. Set >View>Group by Threads (ctl-T) on Select a single item from the list of mail headers. The row will be highlighted. Delete the item. No row will now be highlighted and no item is selected. What should happen: The next item down from the deleted item should be selected and its row highlighted. If more than one item is selected and deleted as group, the problem does not occurr. Things work as expected in non threaded mode. This bug was observed in mandriva-cooker, evolution-2.8.0-1mdv2007.0 with gnome 2.16 installed.
kjel: this only happens when you delete the root node, right?
sounds like a dup/side effect of bug 352982
It's mentioned in https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/59782 as well. It happens for all mails. Delete a mail, find no mail focused.
It happens when I delete a message that is either the root of a thread or any of the messages in the thread, but only when both "hide deleted messages" is enabled and "Group by threads".
It doesn't occur if you select and delete multiple messages.
In reply to Andre Klapper: See Michael R Head's comment (#4). He has identified the additional conditions, both "Group by threads" and "hide deleted messages". The problem occurs when any single message, root or not is deleted, but not if more than one message is selected for deletion.
BTW: this is fixed, as far as I can tell in 2.8.1 (at least as packaged in Edgy).
Confirming bug is fixed in 2.8.1
