That bug has been opened on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/57568

"HI,

I cannot seem to play the default radio stations in Rhythmbox.
http://librarian.launchpad.net/3994790/rb.png provides a screenshot showing the only radio station that plays is "Virgin Classic Radio".

This appears to be fixed in CVS, http://ubuntu.hbr1.com:19800/ambient.ogg works fine for me in CVS. I can play just about all of the default radio stations. A few don't appear to be streaming properly, or may have had their URL changed.

0.9.3.1 is getting pretty old and a number of iradio fixes were made, can you retest with 0.9.5 or later?
Comment 2 Alex Lancaster 2006-09-04 14:40:57 UTC
It's also possible that the original reporter does not have the correct MP3 gstreamer plugins installed because the Virgin radio is an OGG station, which would explain why only it would work, while the others don't.
Comment 3 Carthik Sharma 2006-09-06 07:00:42 UTC
I am the original reporter. No, the other streams are not mp3 streams, the log file clearly shows the URLs for the streams that wouldn't play and all are .ogg streams.

SO even without the mp3 decoding plugins, the songs should play.

Please let me know if you need more info. I am unsure as to whether I am to set this as confirmed, so I am leaving this "needs info".

Thank you,
Carthik.

There were many fixes made to Internet Radio since 0.9.3.1, there's a good chance this bug was fixed by that. Can you upgrade to 0.9.5 and see if the bug still persists?

These streams don't seem to exist any more:
- http://ubuntu.hbr1.com:19800/house.ogg (doesn't show up on the index at http://ubuntu.hbr1.com:19800)

I'm not sure why you were getting HTTP 404-like responses for the other streams on ubuntu.hbr1.com. They play correctly for me.
Comment 6 Jonathan Matthew 2006-09-10 08:52:11 UTC
The streams on hbr1.com seem to give HTTP 404 responses for a while when the stream changes. I just observed http://ubuntu.hbr1.com:19800/trance.ogg doing this for about a minute at the end of a track. According to various mailing list archives, the http://ogg.tv-radio.fr:1441/encoderfmusiques.ogg stream does something similar.

Availability of these streams is completely out of our control, so I'm closing this bug as NOTGNOME.
