GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 352989
Misdetects nautilus as nautilus-cd-burner
Last modified: 2018-07-16 08:25:15 UTC
irc log tells the story: <bkor> hmm.. it thinks nautilus-cd-burner crashed instead of nautilus <reinouts> yep, it mentioned 'cd/dvd werkplaats' :) <bkor> and that one has incorrect info in it uses general while it doesn't exist <bkor> reinouts: could you file a bug-buddy bug that it misdetects nautilus as nautilus-cd-burner? <bkor> I have no idea on how to fix this <bkor> perhaps prefer commands without arguments as 'the' real product

Bug-Buddy looks at the the crashed app, then looks in every .desktop file for a match. Both nautilus and nautilus-cd-burner (and epiphany+epiphany bookmarks) have the same command but use an argument. Bug-Buddy just takes one of those .desktop files as the 'correct' one. I guess one way to fix this is to prefer the .desktop file if it has no arguments. Even better if we could actually compare the entire command used to start the app and if no match can be found, fall back to the preferring the .desktop file without arguments.
Is there anything we can do here? The nautilus bugs are making it very difficult to triage the n-c-b bugs...
For now I've patched the server to pretend nautilus-cd-burner bugs have been filed as nautilus/general. I do not plan to have this change until the end of time though (stuff like this needs to be patched again and again every time Bugzilla is upgraded).
bug-buddy is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes many years ago. Its codebase has been archived: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/bug-buddy/commits/master Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality (see bug 796784). Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is deprecated) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
