Description Brian Kerrick Nickel 2006-08-05 06:16:42 UTC
Currently, Nautilus shows mounted items from "Computer" on the desktop regardless of purpose. This means an unreadable Windows XP partition and a dozen network shares can litter the desktop and the desktop. It would be nice if all items in "Computer" could be shown or hidden on the desktop. Maybe with drag-and-drop (drag from Computer to Desktop == show, drag from Desktop to Computer == hide) or through a context menu.

Also, the devices visible on the desktop could have priority in the File Chooser Dialog, with non-desktop items placed in a "More..." sub-tree.

Starting with version 3.28, nautilus will not handle the "files on desktop background" feature. For better alternatives, read this blog post https://csorianognome.wordpress.com/2017/12/21/nautilus-desktop-plans/
