As pointed on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gnome-applets/+bug/9015 when using a en_AU locale the default location is DEFAULT_LOCATION, that's because there is no translation for the DEFAULT_LOCATION (translating DEFAULT_CODE, DEFAULT_RADAR,  DEFAULT_ZONE, ..) might be required too
