GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 348116
.tif doesn't print properly (Fit to page option not present?)
Last modified: 2006-12-31 20:09:30 UTC
Please describe the problem: A .tif file displayed as a page in eog doesn't print properly. It has its edge cut off and is oddly compressed. The file in question is available for your perusal at http://static.wayforth.co.uk/20060710164155.tif. This is one of many that exhibit the issue. Steps to reproduce: 1. Load file in eog. 2. Print file. Actual results: The file is printed, but the right edge is cut off, and the part that is visible is vertically compressed. Expected results: The file should print as it's displayed on the screen. Does this happen every time? Yes Other information: I don't know enough about Gnome to ascertain whether this is a bug in eog or gnome-print. The image looks fine when displayed in eog, but distorted when printed from eog. My first thought was that a "fit-to-page" button, as in Windows, might alleviate the issue. However I am not sure whether this would mask some other problem. FYI the file prints perfectly from imagemagick's display program, but doesn't fill the page.
I'm moving this to eog. The file prints perfectly in evince. The file in question also exhibits bug 345520, but I'm assuming it's a different issue.
Another file exhibiting the issue is fax2d.tif from the libtiff test image collection, available at http://www.libtiff.org/images.html.
I think this is fixed in SVN trunk (former CVS HEAD), as we migrated printing to use GtkPrint. I downloaded your test file and it prints pretty well. Fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major release. Thank you for your bug report.
