Description Yuval Drori 2006-07-18 21:35:08 UTC
Up until yesterday I could see my ipod nano 1G in banshee, rythmbox gtkpod etc..
Then it suddenlt stopped!
When I connect it, it shows on my gnome desktop.
Trying to use the command line ipod I get this output:

Listening for iPod-specific HAL events...
** Message: Device Removed: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_EA05_FD20
** Message: Device Added: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_EA05_FD20
glibtop: This machine has 1 CPUs, 1 are being monitored.
Not a Valid iPod! Try Rebooting the iPod

The ipod firmware is from june 2006 (latest as of writing).
I tried to do a hard reset and a restore from a windows xp computer.

I am using debian unstable updated every day.

This bug is because of the latest Apple iPod update. After being applied the iPod creates an empty sysinfo file.

The issue can be worked around by manually creating the contents of the sysinfo file and saving it back on the iPod.

This was raised on the mailing list and Aaron responded as follows:

A lot of work is being done on iPods, so I'm pretty sure this is fixed by now. If not, feel free to reopen the bug.
